Finding the Best Hosting
If you run multiple websites and have different hosting accounts with different providers, you know how hard it is to find the best hosting for the solution you are running. Before getting a hosting service, there are things to consider (beside price) for future upgrades and growth.
I currently run two community websites with blogs, photo gallery and personal profiles. My hosting provider is excellent and the up time is great; however, I just ran into a big problem. I am trying to add video support to my websites, but the hosting provider doesn’t support the extensions I need to convert the videos. This is a major problem since I can’t provide some services the users want on my current hosting. If I need to move these accounts, I’ll need to transfer a giant database with all the user info and all the files, configure the new server, etc… This can take a lot of time and work which I didn’t count on from the beginning.
I knew I want to add video section to my site a while ago, but I didn’t research my hosting support for the extensions I needed. I just assume the provide it by default. I was wrong and because I didn’t do my research, I’ll have to do a lot more work to move my websites.
But how can someone do a research before hand, there are way too many hosting companies out there and they all say they’ll provide everything from the start. I use web hosting choice directory. When I am searching for a webhosting company, I simple go their advance search page, type in what I am looking for and get the best match for my needs. Now, If you are new to web host and what is what, they provide a variety of articles and information that will answer any question you might have.
